Some of you may have already heard the news, but it’s time to make it official. Mother Dragon is growing!
Mother Dragon has always been about helping women dress the body they have now, sustainably. Listening to your stories has shaped every step of the journey so far, and it’s those conversations that have inspired what comes next. Alongside maternity and breastfeeding clothing, I’m now expanding into womenswear.
Let me introduce you to something I’ve been working on.
Mother Dragon started with maternity and breastfeeding, but the women who wear those clothes have never only been pregnant or breastfeeding. We’re women with changing bodies, changing lives, changing moods and changing ideas about what we want to wear.
And I want Mother Dragon to give you more choice.
More choice to wear what you want, whatever stage of life you’re in. More choice to find something you love that’s already in the supply chain, whether you’re pregnant, postpartum, breastfeeding or none of the above.
I’ll still be doing what I’ve always done with Mother Dragon: the searching, the selecting and the curating. Finding the pieces I think are worth having in your wardrobe and bringing them together in one place.
And there’s another part of this expansion that I’m particularly excited about.
One thing I’ve heard again and again is that you want your maternity and breastfeeding clothes to keep going. You don’t want that dress you wore throughout your pregnancy sitting at the back of the wardrobe forever. You want another mama to get the use out of it. You want those pieces back in circulation, and you want an easy way to do it.
Many of you have already done that, by returning your pieces to Mother Dragon for the next mama.
So I started thinking about how Mother Dragon could help with this, and how we could make it a regular feature of how we shop.
That’s where Back in Fashion comes in.
It’s the circular element of the shop, a way for quality preloved pieces to keep moving between us and be loved again. What one woman no longer needs can become something another woman is delighted to discover. A piece gets another outing, another wardrobe, another life.
You get to browse the collection, find something you love and have fun wearing it. And when you’re finished with it, there’ll be a way for that piece to keep going too.
With more choice, I hope you’ll feel free to ignore the labels. Try something completely different. Find a piece that matches your mood. Wear the thing that makes absolutely no sense but makes you feel fabulous.
